Have you ever bought a course, read another book, or signed up for another certification and told yourself, “once I finish this, then I’ll be ready”? Ready to start the business. Ready to work with clients. Ready to charge for your services. Ready to call yourself a practitioner.
But what if you’re already ready? What if the thing holding you back isn’t a lack of knowledge, but a lack of trust in yourself?
In this episode of Connecting to Spirit, I share the moment a teacher pulled me aside at a hypnotherapy conference and told me something I’ll never forget, and why I believe readiness was never really the point.
Episode Summary
Many years ago I sat in a hypnotherapy conference listening to a presenter teach a framework for quantum healing. The information wasn’t new to me. I’d read the books, studied the concepts, spent years in this field. But the way he’d organised it was. When he pulled me aside afterwards, he told me my guides had a message: my apprenticeship was over and it was time to teach.
I was already teaching. I was already a Reiki Master with sold out workshops. And still, some part of me felt like a student waiting for permission. In this episode I unpack why readiness isn’t a feeling you arrive at, it’s a decision you make, and why confidence comes from action, not the other way around. I also share what “beginner’s mind” really means, and why the best teachers I know aren’t the ones who think they know everything.
What You’ll Discover
- Why learning can quietly become a way of hiding from action, not a way of growing
- The difference between the confidence you’re waiting for and the confidence that’s built by doing the thing
- What a spiritual teacher taught me about charging for meaningful work, and about keeping a beginner’s mind
- Why the shift from student to practitioner, and practitioner to leader, is about identity and permission rather than more knowledge
- What actually helped me step into the next level of my work (hint: it wasn’t another certification)
- A question to sit with if you suspect you’re already being called to lead
“For years I thought apprenticeship ended when I knew enough. What I’ve learned is that apprenticeship ends when we decide to trust ourselves. Not because we’ve mastered everything, but because we’ve mastered enough to help the person standing one step behind us.”
A Question Worth Sitting With
Are you learning because you’re growing, or because you’re hiding? Is there a part of you waiting for one more course, one more certification, one more piece of knowledge before you’ll finally let yourself step forward?
And what if your apprenticeship is already over?
