A few months ago, I had the opportunity to experience a truly transformative and joyful healing session with the Equi-Life Coaching herd. It was a significant moment, not just for me but for the horses as well, as it was the first time Maryke from Equi-Life Coaching allowed her horses to engage with humans in this unique way.
Horses are known for their deep connection to nature, and within their herd, every member is valued. When we step into their paddock, we too become part of the herd, and in doing so, we are reminded that we matter.
When our energy is out of balance, the horses respond collectively, guiding our healing by moving gracefully around us. It’s believed that healing occurs through the powerful electromagnetic field generated by the horse’s heart, which is five times stronger than a human’s. In this space, our own heart frequency rises, especially when we’re welcomed by the horses with such grace and a profound sense of belonging.
What did I discover that day?
I learned the power of being fully present and the importance of not taking life too seriously. The most profound shift occurred with surprising ease. The horse I connected with, Zeus, had been rejected for most of his life. Maryke shared his story – he was a test-tube horse brought to Australia with high hopes of becoming a successful racehorse, but he didn’t meet the expectations placed on him. As a result, he was deemed ‘not good enough’ and cast aside. Hearing this struck a chord deep within me. I looked at Zeus and saw only beauty and perfection. I wondered aloud how anyone could reject such a magnificent animal.
In that moment, a wave of emotion washed over me as I realized that Zeus was reflecting back to me my own struggles with self-acceptance. Just as I saw perfection in him, I was reminded of the years I had spent rejecting myself. The insight was quickly followed by a light-hearted moment when a playful pony nibbled on my shoe, sending us all into fits of laughter. It was a beautiful reminder that life, in all its complexity, sometimes feels like a cosmic joke, and that we shouldn’t take it too seriously.
As the session ended, Zeus walked with me all the way to the gate – no lead, no bridle, just pure connection, love, and a shared sense of peace.
