It is often said that the only person responsible for your happiness is yourself, so over the last couple of weeks, I have been focussing on self-love to see how much this could affect my happiness. I set myself on a mission to find as many ways as I could to love and nurture myself.
Each morning as I awoke, I would think about different ways that I could have fun. As a result of this thought process, something really interesting started to happen, the more I focused on fun the more opportunities for fun seemed to come into my world. What I also noticed is that I was looking for lots of small ways that I could nurture myself. I made time for myself and shifted from being reactive to proactive. I started lots of mini-projects that I know would be fun. I played outside with my children, I made time to chat to my best friend on the phone, I hand wrote mini ‘love notes’ to another for her birthday, I enjoyed time sitting on the couch cuddling my little dog, enjoyed reading an inspiring book outside in the sunshine, and the list goes on.
What did I get from the experience of focusing on loving myself more? I realised that in order to love yourself you need to make the choice to do so. Then the law of attraction brings in the elements that will fulfill your intention.
- Step 1 – Intention – to love me more, by having more fun in my life.
- Step 2 – Allowing – Being open to any way that the universe can respond to your intention.
- Step 3 – Be open to receiving and being present in the moment.
It’s amazing how a small change in my thought process at the beginning of the day had such a large impact on my happiness at the end of the day. Many small achievements added up to an increased feeling of joy and well-being.
